May 2013 – Mackay Northern Beaches State High School

Queensland’s newest State High School was officially opened on Thursday May 9^th 2013 by Mr John Paul Lanbroek, Minister for Education, Training and Employment.

The $45million facility is currently the new home of some 280 Year 7 & 8 students who are excited about the specialised areas and curriculum of the new facility such as Robotics, Manual Arts and the 130 seat Lecture Theatre.

The school is also home to a dual purpose, $7 million Multi-purpose Hall and Cyclone Shelter.

Masterplanning has been performed for the site and with current growth stage 2 is expected to commence in the near future.

The Project team (Core Architecture and Paynter Dixon Constructions) lead by Ridgemill were able to deal with multiple difficulties including access to site, lack of essential services and inclement weather (cyclone) and were successful in delivering the project on time and on budget.

April 2013 – Toowoomba City Library

Ridgemill have been appointed as Project Managers for the new Toowoomba City Library project alongside joint venture lead consultants James Cubitt Architects and Peddle Thorp Architects to provide a new City Library for Toowoomba Regional Council.

The role includes program and risk management along with project management services from Project Definition Plan phase through to Hand-over and Occupation.

The project will deliver new library and community facilities along with renovations to the civic square for a community that is forecast to grow significantly over the coming years. Completion is forecast for late 2014 / early 2015.

January 2013 – Peninsula Apartments

Ridgemill has been engaged by the body corporate of Peninsula Apartments (Gold Coast) to provide Project Management services for the replacement of external windows and doors belonging to the body corporate.

Ridgemill’s role will include community consultation, consultant engagement, programming, tender package preparation / letting of contract, superintendency and defect management.

The project will require sound communication and planning with all tenants / stakeholders regarding access and interruptions to ensure a seamless construction phase.

Works on site are scheduled to begin post February 2013 and complete early 2014.

December 2012 – The Corso Project Contract Let

The construction contract has now been awarded to Broad Construction Services (QLD) PTY LTD and works have commenced on site. Completion of Separable Portion 1, the Young Persons Space, is expected mid 2013 whilst completion of Separable Portion 2, the Library, Community Hall and Office building, is expected mid year 2014. Ridgemill is providing superintendent services on this $45m project which has achieved a 5 Star Green Star design accreditation under the Public Building Pilot tool.

Feb 2012 – WCRC is Now Operational

The Western Cape Residential Campus (WCRC) in Weipa is now operational. The WCRC is a 120 bed boarding facility to house remote area students to provide access to schooling at the local Western Cape College. The facility is owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC).

Due to the rapid program and logistics of constructing in the capes wet season, the handover of the facility has been staged. Both boys and girls are accommodated and the final handover is due in May 2012.
The facility consists of both boys and girls dormitories, commercial kitchen and dining areas, administration, managers residence, covered area and staff accommodation.
Ridgemill has provided project management services to the ILC for the whole project life of the $21 million facility.

April 2012 – Mackay Northern Beaches State High School

Works have now commenced on site for the construction of the new $40 million Mackay Northern Beaches State High School. The works allow for years 7-12 and include for a multi purpose sports facility that is also designed to function as a Community Cyclone Shelter.

Works are scheduled to be completed for a direct intake of students in January 2013.
Ridgemill is providing project management, quantity surveying and programming services for the client, the Department of Education, Training and Employment.

May 2012 – Runaway Bay Centre of Sporting Excellence

Ridgemill are acting as project managers for refurbishment works at the Runaway Bay Centre of Sporting Excellence on behalf of the Department of Education, Training and Employment.

Design is currently underway and works are expected to commence in July and be completed in September 2012

May 2012 – Mossman Gorge Opens

Works at Mossman Gorge Visitor and Training Centre have now been handed over to the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) who will own and operate the facility.

The $14 million facility provides a gateway to the Mossman Gorge comprising ticket sales, gallery, cafe , administration/office space and shuttle bus services.
The facility also contains functional training rooms, training kitchen and accommodation.
Ridgemill has acted as project managers on behalf of the ILC for the construction component of the project.

June 2012 – WCRC Final Handover Complete and Formally Opened

In May the final handover of works occurred to the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) and its facility operator, the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE).

On 5th June 2012, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP officially opened the facility. The project proved to be challenging and rewarding and delivered positive outcomes for local and regional indigenous students.
