Ridgemill was appointed to provide project management, specialist programing and quantity surveying services for the extensive expansion of Hervey Bay State High School for the ‘Incorporation of Year 7’ project. The project was delivered under two funding schemes – Flying Start Infrastructure and Capital Works Program.
The project was originally a single package of works that required Ministerial Designation and included a new oval, 2 double storey GLA blocks and a double court indoor sports facility. Ministerial Designation was required for the sports hall portion of the works only and would delay the commencement of the Year 7 project.
Ridgemill sought to split the package of works which allowed the Year 7 build to commence first and was completed to allow occupation of the incoming Y7 students. Following Ministerial Designation, works commenced on the sports hall which was completed a few months later.
The project won two “Education Facility over $5 million” Queensland Master Builder awards:
- Sommer & Staff for the two-storey construction of general learning buildings, new sports oval and 2 multi-purpose outdoor sports courts
- Hutchinson Buildings for the construction of the double court indoor sports hall
