Ridgemill was engaged to provide project management, specialist programming and quantity surveying services for the new Year 7 general learning area building at Kirwan State High School.
The striking three storey building houses 20 GLAs, 3 collaborative learning spaces, teaching block including office, staff and ancillary spaces. The new building has covered access to the existing undercover link network.
The design and construction of a central chilled water air conditioning plant, and associated equipment, was also incorporated as a late variation and successfully completed within the original project timeframe.
The project received a commendation at the 2016 AIA North Queensland Regional Architecture Awards. The new English Humanities Building is to be named in honour of the widely admired former Executive Principal John Livingston who passed away in 2015.
