In the role of Superintendent’s Representative (SR) Ridgemill oversaw delivery of the $5.1 million upgrade to levels one and two of the Plant Industries Building at the University of Queensland’s Gatton campus.

The project involved demolition of existing teaching rooms, offices and laboratory spaces across two levels of the operational building and construction of a 100 seat chemistry laboratory, flexible learning space and refurbishment of existing laboratory.  The project also provided an upgrade of the entire building to provide equitable access and reconfigure way-finding elements including a new signature entry and connecting corridors.

With works taking place in an operational university building, careful management of OH&S, including asbestos removal, and minimisation of disruption was crucial to successful delivery of the project.
