This project involved demolition of the existing facility and provision of new aquatic centre and supporting facilities. The 25m eight lane indoor pool can be heated to 24 degrees with a gas system complemented by a solar heating system fitted to the skillion roof of the building.
Ridgemill identified the opportunity to maximise value for Nanango Shire Council and the community by creating a comfortable year-round facility through the use of skylights, a ventilation system and café blinds on two sides.
Additional facilities included undercover 25m learn-to-swim and hydrotherapy pools, full amenities, physio room, disabled facilities, swim club room with storage, kiosk, manager’s office and kitchen.
This project won the 2006 Queensland Master Builder Association Housing & Construction Awards Darling Downs region Sports facilities $2 million to $10 million Award and Facilities for the Disabled Specialities Award.
