Stages 1 and 2 of the Zoo consisted of a $10 million expansion program incorporating a new front entrance and construction of 1,200 seat restaurant, offices, demonstration facilities including grandstand with tiered seating, playground, retail floor and the Metropod Interpretive Centre.
Stage 3 expansion provided the $3 million, 4,500 seat “Crocosseum” stadium, food courts, retail floor, restaurants and animal facilities together with construction of an underpass road and new sewage plant. Animal display enclosures provided endangered species, including Gorilla and Orang-utan, temporary accommodation.
Further project management works undertaken for Australia Zoo by Ridgemill include extension of the Burger Bar catering facility, provision of new concrete slabs for the Koala enclosure, ongoing expansion to office and retail spaces, provision of an electrical substation, a studio for Bindi Irwin and an extension to the roof of the “Crocosseum”.
