Design Management

The design philosophy Ridgemill seeks to instil is one of high quality environments with a focus on the careful management of the design process and value for money.

The design team is encouraged and directed to ensure functional, sustainable design solutions with maximum benefit of expenditure.  Designers are encouraged and supported to deliver creative solutions within the parameters established by our client.

Ridgemill is highly familiar with applying innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions to achieve excellent outcomes.  For example, Ridgemill’s project management of the Caboolture Signature Project  involved the consideration of a library, art gallery and learning centre on a site within the existing town square. Ridgemill worked closely with our client, Moreton Bay Regional Council, to bring current experience from around Australia, and the world, to add value to the planning and design process.

Stakeholder Management

Ridgemill employs an inclusive engagement approach which fosters ownership amongst stakeholders, whilst working within the client’s framework.  Our team utilises a variety of proven engagement techniques to ensure comprehensive stakeholder consultation is carried out, and that project delivery is a positive experience for all stakeholders from project commencement to completion.

Communication is key to successful stakeholder relationships.  We ensure all parties are kept informed by prioritising the dissemination of information and ensuring lines of communication and levels of accountability are understood by all stakeholders from the very beginning of a project.

Ridgemill works to draw out, acknowledge and resolve any differing expectations or requirements at the earliest time, aligning the desired outcomes of various stakeholders without impacting on project program.  Our input often encourages innovative, practical solutions that are supported by project stakeholders, and are delivered within time and cost parameters every time.

Risk Management

Risk management and mitigation has become a speciality for the Ridgemill team and our reputation for rescuing projects in distress is well known.

Our approach is simple and proven time and time again. At the earliest opportunity, our team will undertake a rigorous review of your project to identify all existing requirements and desired outcomes to ensure all options have been considered to best fulfil the time, cost, quality and functional needs. Seeking to uncover any unidentified issues or risks to the project, the review will result in the development of a detailed set of requirements for the project.

Risk management is not an afterthought, rather an integral and ongoing element of our project management service providing ongoing, thorough and detailed risk assessment; identifying risk mitigation and minimisation strategies.

Specialist Programming

Crucial to successful project delivery is the management of the project timeframe.  Ridgemill offers a comprehensive specialist programming service as an integral part of our services.

Our Specialist Programmer creates a program that details your entire project from the earliest planning stages through to commissioning and handover.  This program schedules every phase, task and milestone, and will form a working framework from which to baseline the project.

Regular status checks are undertaken with actual start and finish dates recorded with realistic forecasts provided.  Continued review back to the baseline enables variance to be calculated with potential and actual threats to the project identified and mitigated at the earliest time.

Ridgemill’s approach to time management maintains stakeholder accountability and provides a highly proactive approach to contractor management.

Tender Management

We provide an individualised project management service tailored to each of our projects. This includes the most appropriate delivery method recommended on a case-by-case basis.

Our tender management service is comprehensive, with an overarching aim to achieve the project’s time, cost and quality objectives. This approach include recommendations for procedures to select and appoint contractors. We provide a detailed rationale in support of our recommendations to ensure you understand of all the options regarding your project and how best to proceed.

We manage the entire tender process from coordinating the tender documentation through to advertising, responding to queries, handling the receipt of tenders, evaluation, making recommendations and finally, awarding the tender.  Ridgemill ensures the entire tender process is thoroughly documented and transparent, constantly guarding the best interests of you and your project.

Contract Administration

Ridgemill’s proactive approach to contract administration commences early in the project with our interrogation of the brief, encompassing a thorough review of procurement options and follows through to final completion with our hands-on management style.

We take a highly proactive stance to the management of variations, extension of time claims and the defects management period. Our team has the knowledge and experience to direct contractors towards simple, cost effective solutions.

Ridgemill’s Specialist Programmer provides a focus on actively managing and minimising extension of time claims.  This approach brings much tighter control of program through greater analysis of, and focus on, time extension claims.

It is our diligence on site and culture of documenting all facets of a project, which results in all projects being successfully completed on time and within budget.

Cost Control

Ridgemill is focused on maximising value for money for our clients, managing design and construction activities to ensure each project is delivered within budget.

Our skills in controlling budgets are well proven having had a strong track record in cost effective design solutions and the management of variations during construction.

In our commitment to open and honest stakeholder relationships, our team will provide you with ongoing feedback regarding the project’s overall financial position including budget, milestones, committed funds, uncommitted funds, variations and forecast cost to complete the project. You are kept informed every step of the way.

Ridgemill also offer our very own in-house Quantity Surveyor or we can nominate an external consultant, tender the services on your behalf, or work with a client appointed consultant.  Ridgemill will manage the Quantity Surveyor to coordinate all elements required for cost control.

Dispute Resolution

At no time will Ridgemill’s independence be more valuable to you than if and when a dispute arises.

The key to our success in dispute resolution lies in the early identification and mitigation of various risk factors.  By identifying, and acting to neutralise project risks at the earliest time, Ridgemill’s approach ensures potential and actual disputes are resolved with minimal to no disruption to the project.

Our extensive experience in negotiation, mediation and stakeholder management adds another dimension to our project management services. From project inception, our team is able to minimise potential project conflicts and to quickly resolve and progress difficult or problematic projects upon which we are invited to consult.
